Generation of Promise * Our Book of Mormon Journey * Day Three
We were awoken by the believers telling us that we had survived the destruction. We were then led to the amphitheater.
"And it came to pass that thus did three days pass away. And it was in the morning, that the darkness dispersed from off the face of the land, and the earth did cease to tremble, and the rocks did cease
to rend and the dreadful groanings did cease, and all the tumultuous noises did pass away. And the
earth did cleave together again, that it stood and the mourning and the weeping and the wailing of
the people who were spared alive did cease and their mourning was turned to joy and their
lamentations into the praise and thanksgiving unto the Lord, Jesus Christ, their Redeemer. And thus
far were the scriptures fulfilled which had been spoken by the prophets.
And it was the more righteous part of the people who were saved and it was they who received the
prophets and stoned them not and it was they who had not shed the blood of the saints who were
spared."
"Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased in whom I have glorified my name,
hear ye Him."
As we watched the Savior walk down the mountain side, I have never felt the spirit stronger. I could
not stop the tears from flowing. I envisioned the day when we will truly see the Savior. Although this
was just a dramatization, It was as real as it possibly could be. I remember feeling so grateful that I
was there in his presence, and worthy to do so. I also remember feeling so sad for those that chose
not to be there because of work, or friends, etc. I was reminded that we have a choice. We have a
choice to make Him a part of our life. Will we choose Him?
Will we be worthy to bow at his feet?
Will we be worthy to stand in his presence?
"Behold I am Jesus Christ whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world and I have
drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me and have glorified the Father in
taking upon me the sins of the world in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all
things from the beginning."
"Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may
feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet that ye may know that I am the God of
Israel and the God of the whole earth and have been slain for the sins of the world."
"And verily I say unto you, whatsoever things ye shall ask the Father in my name shall be given
unto you. Therefore, ask and ye shall receive; knock and it shall be opened unto you for he that
asketh receiveth and unto him that knocketh, it shall be opened. Enter ye in at the straight gate;
for straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find
it.
Write the things which ye have seen and heard.
Now I go unto the Father. "
Knowing that He was leaving was heartbreaking. We all felt like we didn't want him to go. My favorite part of the whole experience was watching this hug. I yearn for the day I can hug Him. The kids wanted Him to walk by so they could touch His robe.
"And now, my young gentiles, harken unto my words and the words of the prophets that have been written in this book. Yea even, Lehi, Nephi, Abinadi, Helaman, Ammon, Alma and Samuel. This book was written for your day. It was written for you. "
"Our Savior, yea even Jesus Christ, loves you and knows each of you by name and He desires that ye will come unto him and become a true disciple of Christ. "
We were all given plates of brass to write our testimony on. We gave our families a moment to write there thoughts, then we shared with each other. One girl said, "I didn't know what the spirit felt like before I came here. Now I know and I don't want it to leave." Another said, "Once you feel the spirit this strong, you always want it to be with you." Testimonies were strengthened at youth conference. For some, a seed was planted. Whether they know it now or not, they will always look back to this experience and REMEMBER the words that were spoken, REMEMBER the feelings they felt, and REMEMBER that the Savior loves each of us.
We then gathered and Moroni spoke to us:
"Now the Lord commanded me to bury these plates and seal them up for a future generations. And I seal up these records after I have spoken a few words by the way of exhortation unto you. Behold I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, that ye would ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.
"Come unto Christ, young gentiles, and be perfected in him and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye do these things and love God with all your heart, might, mind and strength, then his grace is sufficient for you that by His grace, ye may be made perfect in Christ."
