Under the care of Dr. Davis...

I laid in bed today with a migraine. Although Mike couldn't be here to help me, I was under the best care possible. Kade was certain to take care of my every need.
*He found every possible pillow, blanket, and heating pad and placed them right on top of me. Apparently the more you have the better you feel. He would then pull the blanket right up to my chin and tuck it right in.
*He got out his Dr.'s kit and gave me a full exam including a shot and a band-aid. Afterwards he reassured me that I was ok.
*I got about a thousand kisses on my head and lots of I love you's
*He brought me a cup with a flower in it and set it on my bedside. (I got flowers for valentines and I gave to each of the kids to put in their room.) It made me smile that he would think of flowers. It later served another purpose- he asked if I was thirsty and handed me the flower and told me to drink the water. I told him that that was disgusting and it would make us sick, he took a sip and reassured me that it tasted YUMMY!

Peek a boo! Can you find me under all the blankets??? I think I seriously had 6 blankets and 7 pillows and then 2 heat pads (one hot and one freezing cold cause he got it out of the freezer.)



He later wanted to be pampered and claimed he was sick(it must of been the rose water that he drank.) He milked it and let Kaylee take care of him when she got home from school.

Thanks for the good care today Doc-a Davis (that's what he calls himself.) Hopefully tomorrow things will return to normal and I can be the one pampering you and giving you kisses.

Amazing Day

What a GREAT, GREAT day! Today Brayden got Baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has been waiting for this day for some time now and it has finally come and now gone. I have been so overwhelmed with emotion watching my little boy learning and growing and making this big decision. I was trying to convince myself that he wasn't ready (maybe one of those subconsious things to keep him little and innocent.) But he truly has proven to me that he was ready for today and the accountability he now has. It's so amazing because you sit and watch and physically you can't see anything happening. Everything happens from within. But today I have been able to witness a true transformation in him. I have been able to witness him feeling of the spirit, and actually becoming emotional about it on multiple occasions. This has never happened to him before. Just another testimony that it is real. He just kept telling me over and over today, "This is the best day of my whole life. It's so amazing."

One of the funniest parts of the day was when they were getting ready to go into the water, Kade hollers, "Jump in Bray." He totally thought this was some swimming event. And then after he was done he just giggled so loud and yelled, "Cool!" I think the whole room got a laugh out of that.

We had a great program, with great talks. One was by my Grandpa Keith and the another by Camryn's mom (the other girl getting baptized.) We had a great musical number by Betsy and her daughter Alissa.

My Baptism Day.

It was so great having family and friends their to support us. It meant so much to Brayden. He said, "I must have a lot of people that love me."

I know I love him and I am so proud of him today. He is such a good boy, and I am proud to be his mama!

He's a Wolf now...

Brayden had his first day of Cub Scouts yesterday. He was dang excited he couldn't even stand it. He has awesome leaders so that makes it even better. Mike used to be the Cub Master so we would go to all the Pack Meetings and Brayden would always ask when he would be old enough to be a scout. Well his day has finally arrived and he feels like he is so big now. Heck, I feel like he is so big now. Where did all the time go??? He came home and told me how easy it was to pass things off so we better get started. We worked on a couple things but it apparently wasn't good enough. All day today he has told me, "Mom I just need to earn my Bobcat and my Wolf. When are we going to be able to work on it?" I don't think he understands that these things take time. I'm glad he is ambitious about it and excited. I hope he doesn't lose his steam.

Family Traits

Their are so many traits that we either learn or genetically inherit from our family. I'm constantly joking with my mom saying, "Oh thanks a lot for passing that on." It seems like I have genetically inherited WAY to many of the not so fun things. My brother's and my dad are always teasing me saying I'm stubborn like my Grandma. It's fun as my kids get older to see some qualities that either Mike or I have come out in them. It's also not so fun when you see some of the negative ones come out as well. It's these little pieces of each of our families that make each of us so individual.

Some good/bad traits I have seen come out in our family:


Kaylee has definitely inherited the Bergstrom's (my mom's side) lack of sleep trait. A good majority of my mom's family just doesn't sleep and it looks like Kaylee is going along with the trend. She will be up at night until SO late. She will wake up multiple times at night, and then she is up again super early. I am really frustrated with this because if she's not asleep she wants someone to talk to, so she comes and wakes me up. If anyone has any suggestions in this category, I'm all ears!!!

Kade has Mike's super sneaky mischievous little smile. You just can't help but love him. The problem is I know what kind of mischief Mike got in and I think I have a long road ahead of me:)

Brayden is so sweet and tender hearted. I think this may be the one and only trait any of my kids got from me. I always expected to have a little girl that would be so quiet and innocent and well...just like me. Well I did get a little girl but Kaylee is totally opposite of me! Brayden is far from being quiet and innocent but at least Brayden has a couple of these sweet traits.

All 3 of my kids have Mike's outgoing fun personality. They will walk up to just about anybody and make friends with them. Not much gets them discouraged. They always want to have fun.

They are all super lovey. Except Kade apparently doesn't like his back scratched. I was cuddling with him yesterday and rubbing his back and he said, "Stop doing that to me." Mike loves it by the way.

All 3 of them inherited the loud Brazilian voice. We can thank dad and Grandma Sonia and all those other crazy Brazilians. They are constantly trying to out talk one another each one getting louder and louder. It is so hard for me to understand until I go to Mike's mom's house and the volume goes up about 10 notches.

Kaylee apparently has inherited her Dad's ability to sale. I over heard her in her bedroom the other day talking to one of her friends that isn't active in the church. She was totally trying to sale the idea of coming to church with her it was so funny. She had a picture hanging up that she had made at church. Her friend asked her what it was and where she made it. (Now picture Kaylee flipping her hair and her hand on her hip.) She replied, "I totally made that at church and if you would come to church with me you could make one to. Now what you need to do is go home and tell your mom that you want to come to church with me. You will totally love it because our teachers are Bro. and Sis.___________ and they are so totally the best teachers ever. You will love them. And we have so many fun kids in our class. Does that sound like a good idea?" Her friend just sat there with a blank look on her face.

I love that she isn't afraid to approach people about what she thinks. I am always so worried about what people will think about me or what I'm saying that I just don't say anything. She will be a great missionary. That is if I can keep her on the right track.

It looks like Kaylee is unfortunately inheriting the dreaded migraines. They have been passed on from Grandpa, to mom, to me, now to poor Kaylee. She luckily hasn't had anything bad but she gets headaches pretty frequently and that's scary to me cause it's earlier then when I started to get them.

Brayden got his Dad's skills on the soccer field. It is so fun watching him play and seeing Mike teaching him new moves. I think I have two talented boys on my hand. Kade has a love for soccer as well so we will see what he is able to do when he is a little older.

Kade has a love for fixing and working on things. He did not inherit this from his dad. This is something that has probably come from all of his Grandpa's. They are all handy and he has seen many of them working and fixing things up around our house. His Grandpa Bill would have been proud to know that their was someone in his genetic line that loved to do this. He was always fixing something or working on some project.

Brayden and Kaylee love to read. This is something that they definitely got from me, since I've NEVER seen Mike pick up a book. Their are a lot of people in my family that like to read and I hope this is something they continue to love.

Looking at some families you can definately tell who they belong to because they all just look alike. I don't think this is the case with our family. Each kid is so individual. I don't see a lot of our traits in any of them (except I think Kade looks like Mike.) But after reading this you can see that they all definately belong to us. They may not look like us but they definately act like us!

The race is on....

Because Brayden's birthday is in the winter he usually gets jipped out of having a birthday party. He is usually so easy to talk out of doing one, and he is just so easy going and doesn't care. Well this year he asked if he could have a birthday party so I thought I better follow through this year since we haven't done one for a while. Quick funny story, on his actual birthday we went to the Draper temple open house and out to dinner and he thought that was his celebration for his birthday. So later that night he said, "Mom since we just celebrated my birthday with family this year can we try to have a party next year?" Even though I had already told him he could have a party he was totally fine not having one. He is sweet. But I had to stick to my word!

The party theme was "The Amazing Race." Brayden LOVES the show and always tells Mike that one day they are going to be a team on the show together. So we thought they would have fun doing a miniature version of it. The invites went out about a week ago telling the kids to get ready to "OUT WIT, OUT LAST AND OUT PARTY!" The kids showed up definitely ready to win the million dollars.

They had 7 tasks that they had to complete. They were given the rules before they started and they either collected the items along the way that they needed or money was provided for them before hand.

Task #1 They had to go around the neighborhood and collect 10 random items that we had assigned to them. Red team could go to odd #'d houses, Blue team could go to even #'d houses. After they got all items they went back to our house and had to find their next clue.

Task #2 They had to go to Harmons, purchase a can of baby food. After they bought it one kid had to feed it to another kid. They just thought this was ridiculous! But they completed it and then they got their next clue at customer service.

Task #3 They had to go to Jamba Juice and count how many times it said the word "yogurt" on their menu. Once they had the correct number they could get their next clue from somebody that worked there.

Task #4 They had to go to Marble Slab Creamery, try 3 different kinds of ice cream and try to decided what one was Brayden's favorite. Once they figured this out, they could receive their next clue.

Task #5 They went to Sports Authority where they each had to find the punching dummy and hit him 10 times, then putt a golf ball 5 times, and then find a stair stepper and climb 25 stairs. Then they received their clue at the check out counter.

Task #6 They went to Target and had to purchase an Icee. They had to drink it as fast as they could before they could receive their next clue from Customer Service. This was a tough task. They started out wanting to help each other, then it ended up being a one man show with one kid trying to down the whole thing. Talk about brain freeze!

Task #7 They had to go back to the park in our neighborhood and find a pink heart that was hidden somewhere by the hill. Inside the heart they found their last and final clue that lead them back to our house. Once they arrived there they had to be the first team to form a pyramid and get their picture taken to win.

The BLUE team trailed in second place by just a couple of minutes.

We came back to the house and ate and had cake and ice cream. The kids had a blast and were so excited the whole time. We ended up giving them all a million (pretend) dollars. But the winning team got a king size candy bar and the second place team got a regular size candy bar. They were all good sports and fun to be around. Hopefully Brayden is satisfied enough, at least for the next couple of years:)

What would we do without you???

Where do I begin? My little baby is 8 years old today. This has been such an emotional birthday for me. It just seems like my little boy is so big now. This birthday comes with a lot of mile stones and responsibility for him. He gets to start scouts, which he has informed me involves "learning" how to use a pocket knife and a BB gun. He will be getting baptized in a couple weeks. I keep informing him he will now be accountable for all these actions he decides to make. I think he is taking full advantage of these "free" weeks. He has had a rough time the last couple weeks at home and school and he is having to learn how to handle things more maturely. Hopefully he keeps progressing in this area.


I am so grateful for Brayden's example in my life. He is such a happy fun loving kid. He has a tender forgiving heart. He loves hugs and kisses and being cuddled (though he won't admit to this.) I learn a lot from Brayden and the way he handles things. He is so quick to apologize and is quickly concerned if he thinks he's putting you out.

I look forward to many more fun and exciting years with Brayden. Hopefully I can live up to the task as his mom! Happy Birthday!!

P90X

I decided this year I wasn't going to make any resolutions because I'm not very good at keeping them. But I did decided that I was going to just be better all around. I felt like every area in my life could use a pick me up. Mike has been very good at motivating me to get going in a lot of areas. One specific area would be physical excercise, I am such a bum when it comes to this. Their is a fun group of women that get together a couple times a week for a killer work out, and I still can't talk myself into going. I always have an excuse. Well Mike came up with this brilliant idea to start working out together at night. He brought home these DVD's called P90X and we have started doing them togther at night when the kids go to bed. One night we even did it as a family and the kids thought this was a blast! They were all comparing muscles when they were done. Today is only day 4 of the 90 day program and I am trying to think of every possible excuse not to do it today. My body hurts, I'm tired, and I think it would be easier to just cuddle on the couch tonight. But I have had alot of fun doing it with him and it makes it easier to have someone fun to workout with. We took some before pictures, but I promised not to post them. Maybe in 90 days when we are "RIPPED" we might feel more inclined to share those pictures. For now they are tucked safely away. So here's to day 4, and some really sore abs!

My little tank

Kade has been so fun lately (if we aren't counting the hours between 6 and 7 at night.) He just wants to play all day long. The second the kids leave for school he gets out a game and starts setting it up. I always ask him, "Kade who ya gonna play with?" And he always responds, "Me, You. We play dis game. I beat you." And he could literally play the same game over and over for hours before he got bored.

The kid wakes up with a smile on his face, usually giggling about something. The other night Mike and I were laying in bed and we heard a big thud. It sounded like someone had fallen out of their bed, but nobody woke up crying. So we got up to check on the kids and sure enough, Kade had fallen out of bed. He had landed perfectly back on the floor with a stuffed animal under his head and the covers back over him. It didn't even phase him, so we left him there. He woke up in the morning just laughing because he said his covers fell off his bed. Apparently he wasn't too concerned he was laying there too.

His favorite thing to do is help Mike fix things, or help me with something. As soon as he sees a tool in hand he goes to find a matching one. We were putting this desk together the other day and he ran so quick to get his drill, hammer, and helmet to help put it together. He was so proud with the end result.

Kade has also come up with this very random but funny thing he does and I want to remember that he does it. Refer to picture below so I don't have to try to describe it. He calls these his "brave goggles." Anytime he is hurt, or someone is crying, or we tell him to be brave he does this. I'm not really sure where he came up with this but it's so funny. When he split his head open he was bleeding really bad, and I was driving him to the Dr. trying to talk to him and calm him down and I looked in my rear view mirror and he was sitting in his car seat doing this. Another time Kaylee was at the doctor and they were poking her with a little needle and she was just crying and I was telling her it was ok. Kade was sitting over in the corner with his "brave goggles."

I am grateful for the one on one time I have had with Kade while the kids are at school. His little smile lights up my day. Any time I get upset about something he gets in my face and says, "I happy mom." His smile is so mischievous it's so hard to ever get mad at him for anything.

First Attempt at Politics

I hate politics. I hate everything about it. I've never wanted anything to with politics, if I hear about it, I shut it off, turn my head, turn off the TV. But it's evident that now that we have a new president things are definitely changing. I guess I have to change my ways. I have to say I am a little (teeny bit) proud of myself. In the last two days, I have signed two petitions and sent off a letter to the senator. These are both issues that I feel strongly about and I'm pretty sure it's not going to be the end either. I guess it's time to speak up. So if your interested in either of these issues here are the links to get involved.

The Tooth Fairy Has Become a Regular Around Here...

This past week we have lost a total of three teeth at our house. Brayden has pulled out 2 of his own teeth. He now has lost a total of 8 teeth. It's kind of a weird stage?!? Hopefully when they all grow in it will all look more normal. And tonight Kaylee lost her first tooth. She was so excited, she feels like such a big girl now. She can't wait to go back to school tomorrow because she said for Show and Tell she is going to show everybody that she lost her tooth. She will soon be losing another one because the one right next to it is loose as well. Kade is wiggling all of his trying to find one that is loose, hopefully he has a while.
